It’s concerning to think that the left may actually believe their own hyperbole.

Addressing Tucker Carlson’s new segments on the mostly peaceful January 6th protest, which is based on over 40,000 hours of footage he obtained via Kevin McCarthy, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean Pierre made it clear that she “disagrees” with his reporting, before presenting January 6th as the worst thing to happen to America since the Civil War.

KJP:  Anybody who watched that video would strongly disagree.  Anybody who watched that video in a — with their own eyes, in a real way, and saw what happened on that day would — would disagree with what was just stated.

The President has been very clear: January 6th was the worst attack on our democracy since the Civil War.  And we should be focused on making sure that never happens again.

In the world of the Biden administration, a protest that lasted a few hours, only resulting in deaths from its perpetrators, was a bigger “threat to Democracy” than countless tragedies that occurred since the Civil War. In addition to obvious events that come to mind including 9/11 and the attack on Pearl Harbor, there were assassinations of multiple presidents since then, including Abe Lincoln, James Garfield, William McKinley, and John F. Kennedy. One would think that killing a president counts as an “attack on our democracy” - but apparently that comes second to parading around the Capitol in a bear headdress.

The Biden administration also must believe that January 6 was a greater “threat to democracy” than the attempted assassination of Rep. Steve Scalise and others at a Republican baseball practice - an event the media was quick to memory hole.

Actual attacks on the Capitol have happened before; in 1983 the Armed Resistance Unit bombed the U.S. Capitol in response to the invasion of Grenada - but alas, the perpetrators were leftists, so this apparently doesn’t count.
